Under new ownership, City Books remains Pittsburgh’s oldest used bookstore carrying new & used, collectible & rare, and English & foreign language books for diverse audiences. We are a small, friendly shop with an emphasis on both old-world charm and modern customer service. Located on Pittsburgh’s Northside, City Books is conveniently within walking distance of the region’s premier attractions, including Heinz Field, the Carnegie Science Center, the Children’s Museum, the National Aviary, the Andy Warhol Museum, City of Asylum, and the Mattress Factory. We have comfortable chairs, great lighting, and soft jazz playing in the background. Come for a quick peek or a long afternoon browse.
Location: 908 Galveston Avenue, Northside. Phone: 412-321-7323 (READ). If you are reading this on a mobile phone, scroll to the very bottom of the page for a Google map.
Opening Hours: Tue – Fri 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM, Sat & Sun 12 Noon – 5 PM.
Since reopening the store, we have been building sections not included in the old store’s inventory. We now have books in areas such as Children’s, Drama, Food & Drink, Local History, Travel, and Young Adult. If you don’t see something, ask. We can easily get it for you in about 7-10 days at most – and we have independent sources not named after large South American rainforests. We are happy to help you make selections for yourself or as gifts.
If you have not already done so, please sign up for our on-line newsletter where we will offer more news and information to our subscribers than we will on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram (but follow us there, too, if you can @citybookspgh). We promise not to spam your inbox or share your personal information with anyone else.
We are always looking for books, and will gladly offer store credit for trade-ins based on the age, condition, and resalability of the titles. If you have a large quantity of books, please call to make an appointment – we might be able to come to you and save you the hassle of hauling them to the store. No trade-in is guaranteed.
As always, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call 412-321-7323 (READ) or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
