City Books welcomes Tamar Tipton as the Fall 2025 Writer-in-Residence from July 1-November 30. Tamar (they/them) is a Black, non-binary fiction writer who incorporates different POVs alongside speculative and horror elements. They played clarinet for 10 years and have a Bachelors degree in Music from Shepherd University. When not writing, Tamar is in their living room surrounded by glass, paint, glue, reality tv, and their void cat, Shiori.

Tamar will receive a $500 honorarium, discounts, and curation opportunities at City Books. In addition, they will spend at least 3-5 hours a week writing in the bookstore, and be available on Small Business Saturday (Nov. 29) and for media requests.
